The pearl in your life. From the sea to you: to enjoy it, change it, twist it, live it
"Casual Pearls"
Inspired by a legend, which encapsulates the Polynesian spirit, we have created our "Charmhiti" which evokes different aspects of that spirit. The spiral which symbolises the Pearl as it develops, akin to our own evolving lives, to the drop meaning a drop in the sea symbolised by the drop pearl enclosed by a "C" representing anything we wish to hold sacred: sentiment, love, friendship, fantasy, loyalty.
There are flowers everywhere in Polynesia, like colourful stars that have fallen into empty blueness. The flower in Tahiti keep living once cut: it's arranged in homes, in bouquets, in the welcoming garlands offered on your arrival, as colourful adornment in the hair or just behind the ear.
And here it has a particular meaning: the Tiare, gardenia tahitiensis, native flower symbol of
this island of dreams when placed above the right ear, shows that the wearer is single, over the left
ear that the heart has already been given to another. And your heart will always be won by such sweetness, especially if you place a black pearl nearby: an apogée of esthetic excellence,
the possibility to be admired, a floral code which can be invented as you wish.
The pearl has long been a symbol of divinity and mysticism, a universal messenger of immortality, in metaphysics and in the ancient texts of our religions (Veda, the Bible, the Koran, taoism and buddhism) the pearl has alternately meant fertility, cycles of life, perfection, the Divine and the soul as it nears perfection. In medieval times the pearl was a symbol for the love of God, and Jesus was considered the precious pearl born to Maria. Even in ancient times, the pearl represented the glory of royalty, power and nobility, from Charlemagne to Julius Caesar, who wanted it reserved to the Elite. According to Svetonio, the pearl had even an important part to play in Caesar’'s invasion of Britain. In Venice only the Doges had the right to wear
the pearl, from Marco Polo to Captain Cook european society would go to great lengths to have it .
Jewellery that is easy to wear, but that's noted, when drinking an aperitif with friends by the pool or at a work appointment. A small flash back to Rococo times, a very affordable little luxury.
